Detaching from your EGO| Day 3
Todays Aim- to step back from your inner critic whilst keeping your own perspective in order to decrease its power.
We have learnt that the in order to gain control over our ego, we need to open up our awareness to it. The ego and awareness are incompatible. The ego treats the present moment as a means to an end, an obstacle, an enemy, therefore your decision to make the present moment into your friend can put an end of the ego's reign.
In order to do this, we have to remember that our ego is a part of us, it is not our true selves. Start to look out for patterns of behaviour such as:
Being emotionally grounded
These kinds of behaviour are the ways in which you are beginning to disconnect from your ego. At the moment, you and your ego may be fused together, bound with glue and you may believe that you are one being. You believe your thoughts to be true because you see it as coming from you. However, the ego struggles with the patterns of behaviour listed above, therefore if you become aware of yourself doing them, it is proof that the ego is not in control. The more you engage in these patterns of thinking, WHILST being aware of what you are doing, you and your ego will begin to diffuse.
Another way to begin disconnecting form your ego is to personify it as a character. Doing this takes the power away from your ego as being part of you. Creating it's on character and giving it a name will help you believe that your ego is another part of you. Download worksheet 2 to get started!
